Margie Woods
Photography is in my veins, from my early years in the dark room or out in the Hawaiian landscape with my photographer dad, to a lifetime of documenting every facet of my own life, to now running a portrait photography business in Venice, CA. Not only has photography always been a huge part of my life, but it also provides an opportunity for me to do what I love the most which is to connect with people. When I got my first opportunity to combine Photography with my other passion in life, teaching, I could feel that it was a match made in heaven. I started teaching portrait photography classes at Dallas Center for Photography in 2011. I am now living in Los Angeles again, and am offering one on one lessons and mentoring as well as small classes in my Venice Studio.
My specialty is natural light portrait photography, using any location or background to illuminate the essence of my beautiful clients. I am passionate about helping other people learn how to shoot beautiful portraits in a very simple way. You dont need fancy locations and special lighting to create stunning images! All you need is an understanding of light and how to use any location to make the most of it! I am here to help you do that!
When I am not shooting portraits or teaching my photo classes you can find me teaching art journaling or making art in my studio, sailing my beloved boat. I am also a fledgling filmmaker inspired to make documentaries about singlehanded women sailors.
